Same reporting. A different edition for every reader.
Every member's issue is built from the same Ventura coverage, then cut and ordered to fit them: news, events, community conversations, and live music. Each section is ranked against the topics you've told us you care about. It stays email. There's no app to open and no feed to scroll.
How it works for you
Ranked around your interests
Every story, event, conversation, and show is scored on how many of your topics it touches. The strongest matches sort to the top in five tiers (reader-submitted items ahead of scraped ones), and the weak matches fall away. You get a shorter read that's mostly things you'd have clicked anyway, with duplicate stories and past events pruned out.
Tuned by replying
No preferences page to babysit. Reply to any issue in plain English (“more live music, less crime news”) and the next edition is built around it. An assistant reads the reply, maps it to topics, and updates your profile. Prefer to set it by hand? The web preferences page lets you pick topics directly.
Events that fit you, first
The events in the next two weeks that match your interests rise to the top of the issue, instead of sitting forty listings deep. The ones that aren't for you don't crowd the page.
Day-of alerts
When a brand-new event lands that hits at least two of your interests, you get a heads-up the day it's posted, often before tickets move. It's throttled deliberately, so it stays a tip, not a stream of notifications.
On your schedule
Choose the day of the week and the time your issue arrives. Submit events to The Wave yourself and you'll also get a periodic note on how many people clicked them.

“VC Select helped me feel like a tourist in my own town, in a good way. I've already gone to events I never would've found on my own. Five stars.”
